Forbes Enterprise Awards moving company

ForbesEnterpriseAwardWinners2007BWinners of the prestigious of Forbes Enterprise Awards were formally announced today. From a field of thousands of nominees, only 72 companies were selected to win the coveted award—among those chosen for this select group of extraordinary companies was SDS Global Logistics.

Companies were measured in five unique areas and needed to stand out in each of them. Those categories were: Customer Service, New Product/Service Offerings, Marketing, Employee Relations and Community Service. Judges were seemingly impressed with several key factors in SDS Global’s application. Flatrate Moving was the only moving company to be honored in this year’s awards — or even to be chosen as a finalist.

“At Flatrate, our top priorities are service and excellence, so we are truly humbled and grateful to have been recognized in this way by the Forbes Enterprise Awards,” comments Eric Klepar, General Manager of Flatrate Moving. “To receive this award from a name as respected as Forbes is an honor — and a tangible demonstration of our commitment to our customers.”

Founded in 1991, Flatrate is a New York City moving company that offers fifteen years of superlative service. The company’s unique “flat-rate” pricing method eliminates the questionable pricing practices that many companies impose on customers moving in New York, while at the same time providing quality service at competitive prices. The approach has revolutionized the business of moving, with the “flat-rate” concept becoming so popular that the company has expanded steadily to five locations nationwide (New York City, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Miami, and Los Angeles). Flatrate easily and professionally conducts local residential, as well as commercial, long distance, or even overseas moves.

The Forbes Enterprise Award winners will be celebrated at a Reception and exclusive, televised Awards Ceremony at Lincoln Center, on February 5, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Winners will also have their names published in a special section of Forbes magazine.

The Forbes Enterprise Awards were decided by a distinguished judging panel chaired by Judith H. Dobrzynski, a reporter and senior editor at The New York Times and Business Week, a Managing Editor at CNBC, and adjunct Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Judging was based on such criteria as product or service innovation, customer relations, community involvement, employee development and support, and marketing or other efforts leading to a business’s growth. Nominees in the Forbes Enterprise awards were judged against others in the same field and within the same geographic region, and all companies were considered based on activities and notable achievements taking place from January 1, 2004 through awards submission in December 2006.

Flatrate was chosen as a winner not only for its original “flat-rate” moving concept, but also for its branding excellence, and on its foundation on service as the key to its success. With an experienced and knowledgeable customer service center, Flatrate welcomes questions from those facing the prospect of a move, as well as feedback about its performance afterward (positive or negative). Flatrate has built a national presence on a brand whose emphasis is on long-term customer satisfaction. The company’s visibility campaign and brand recognition are built on the idea that, even in the midst of a stressful move, “Life is Beautiful” when customers move with Flatrate — a slogan so important to the company that it even appears on its trucks.

The Forbes Enterprise Award is not the only award Flatrate has achieved in the past 12 months. In June of 2006, the general public voted Flatrate (New York) for a prestigious Best of Citysearch (BOC) Award as “Best Mover 2006.” In addition, Citysearch reviewers and reporters also chose Flatrate as #1 in a separate editorial honor for the company.

Popeye and Bluto are moving Olive Oyl

popeye the mover 1

I bought this Hollywood Classics DVD for $3.50 and the first cartoon my kids watched was A Haul In One (1956). The first scene about Popeye and Bluto are moving Olive Oyl, is another classic Popeye - Olive Oyl is moving so she calls the moving men - Popeye and Bluto. Both men want to woo Olive by demonstrating their moving prowess. Look out how they packing Olive’s bags, carrying extra loaded sofa and how they are moving the piano!

Enjoy boys, just don’t try it at home!

The plot lines in the animated cartoons tended to be simpler. A villain, usually Bluto makes a move on Popeye’s “sweetie”, Olive Oyl. The bad guy then clobbers Popeye until Popeye eats spinach, which gives him superhuman strength. Spinach farmers in Crystal City, Texas were so grateful for this they erected a statue of Popeye in the town and credited him for saving the then-dying spinach industry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popeye

Popeye the Sailor has been well-known to comic strip fans since his first appearance in the newspaper strip Thimble Theater in 1929. At first a minor character, Popeye grew to dominate the strip as readers fell for the hot-tempered old salt with the bulging forearms and fractured vocabulary. A comical cast of characters grew up around him: skinny flirt olive Oyl, strange orphan Swee’pea, tattered hamburger-lover J. Wellington Wimpy, and the bewhiskered brute Bluto, Popeye’s perennial rival for Olive’s attention. http://www.answers.com/topic/popeye-the-sailor

storage1

There are a few main reasons for storage:

  • Providing more time and options for people to find and arrange their new apartment
  • If you are moving to a different country for a few years then you will probably need storage for the items you are leaving behind
  • Providing a safe place to store your items while you are not around to watch them

What are STORAGE CELLS:

Storage cells are storage rooms which provide a safe and affordable space, that people who are moving will probably need to store their items before moving into their new appartement.

Sometimes, when people move to a different country or state, they will need storage space to store items that they will not take along, or are to big to be moved over long distances. These items, for example a table, or a bookshelf, are usually not moved over long distances b/c of their size, and are usually stored in storage rooms till the owners come back, or find another use for them.
