Renting a car During your move

As you start you move things start to move fast and many of your items leave the house. During the days of the move ,if you do not own a car rent one so you will be able to transport your expensive and confidential property such as jewelry…. This way everything is safe, and within your reach at any given time.

The renting of the car splits into three days:

1) On the first day make sure that all of your private and important belongings are with you.

Drive around between your new apartment and your old apartment to make sure that average is OK and is running smoothly.

2) On the second day, drive around between the houses but this time make sure that all of the moved items in the new apartment are placed in their spot according to what you want.

Collect all unwanted things in your house, for example old clothes and other old items which are not in use anymore, and give them out to non profit organizations, and charity organizations.

For more info about donating your old items go to:http://www.flatrate.com/microsite/index.html

3) On the third day everything should be set up in the new apartment and the last touch ups should be done on the new apartment. Drive to the other apartment only to make sure nothing is left behind and check up on the last things that should be done in the old apartment.

In conclusion, a car (15 passenger van is even better) is a very important part in the process of moving. Its a requirement which should not be ignored I learned know that from experience.

Moving your household goods may need to be stored temporarily

storage baggageThere can be many reasons private people and businesses need to store goods away to be used at a later time. Sometimes when moving your household goods may need to be stored temporarily. This may be due to timing and not having located a permanent home in your new city and you may need to store your belongings for a few weeks as you find a new home. You may decide to do some remodeling of your new home or build an entirely new home and you will need to have your furnishings out of the way while this is going on and storage is an obvious choice. You may just need to store items you do not or cannot have in your home due to space constraints, and storage can is an option in situations like this.
An advantage of storing with your moving company is that the company will then deliver your furniture and other possessions when you are ready for them. You will not have to be present at the pick-up at the storage facility if you are moving with us as well.

If the storage is for overnight only, we will usually allow for storage within our truck itself, which is locked and parked in our safe and guarded depot, providing we have the availability. There is an extra charge for this service, and it varies according to the size of the truck. Please check with your relocation consultant in order to determine if this is option is available at the time of your move, and what the size of your shipment will cost for overnight storage.

At the time when you are making a decision on whether to store or not to store your goods, think about the other options that may be available to you. Do you really need all the items you are planning to put in to storage? Can you get rid of any without any regrets? Remember if you are moving, that everything you get rid of now is something you won’t have to pay to have moved. On the other hand you may need it someday!

Ask yourself some questions before deciding to store particular items or not.

  1. Do I need the item?
  2. Will I ever use this item again?
  3. When did I use it last?
  4. Has it got sentimental value?
  5. If any of the items need repair will you really have them repaired?
  6. Clothing items – if you have not use any item will you really ever wear it again?

You may decide after answering the question above that you do not really need some of the items. The next big question is what to do with all this stuff. There are many options available to you. You could throw the stuff out, give it away to charity, or sell some of the items.

Forbes Enterprise Awards moving company

ForbesEnterpriseAwardWinners2007BWinners of the prestigious of Forbes Enterprise Awards were formally announced today. From a field of thousands of nominees, only 72 companies were selected to win the coveted award—among those chosen for this select group of extraordinary companies was SDS Global Logistics.

Companies were measured in five unique areas and needed to stand out in each of them. Those categories were: Customer Service, New Product/Service Offerings, Marketing, Employee Relations and Community Service. Judges were seemingly impressed with several key factors in SDS Global’s application. Flatrate Moving was the only moving company to be honored in this year’s awards — or even to be chosen as a finalist.

“At Flatrate, our top priorities are service and excellence, so we are truly humbled and grateful to have been recognized in this way by the Forbes Enterprise Awards,” comments Eric Klepar, General Manager of Flatrate Moving. “To receive this award from a name as respected as Forbes is an honor — and a tangible demonstration of our commitment to our customers.”

Founded in 1991, Flatrate is a New York City moving company that offers fifteen years of superlative service. The company’s unique “flat-rate” pricing method eliminates the questionable pricing practices that many companies impose on customers moving in New York, while at the same time providing quality service at competitive prices. The approach has revolutionized the business of moving, with the “flat-rate” concept becoming so popular that the company has expanded steadily to five locations nationwide (New York City, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Miami, and Los Angeles). Flatrate easily and professionally conducts local residential, as well as commercial, long distance, or even overseas moves.

The Forbes Enterprise Award winners will be celebrated at a Reception and exclusive, televised Awards Ceremony at Lincoln Center, on February 5, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Winners will also have their names published in a special section of Forbes magazine.

The Forbes Enterprise Awards were decided by a distinguished judging panel chaired by Judith H. Dobrzynski, a reporter and senior editor at The New York Times and Business Week, a Managing Editor at CNBC, and adjunct Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Judging was based on such criteria as product or service innovation, customer relations, community involvement, employee development and support, and marketing or other efforts leading to a business’s growth. Nominees in the Forbes Enterprise awards were judged against others in the same field and within the same geographic region, and all companies were considered based on activities and notable achievements taking place from January 1, 2004 through awards submission in December 2006.

Flatrate was chosen as a winner not only for its original “flat-rate” moving concept, but also for its branding excellence, and on its foundation on service as the key to its success. With an experienced and knowledgeable customer service center, Flatrate welcomes questions from those facing the prospect of a move, as well as feedback about its performance afterward (positive or negative). Flatrate has built a national presence on a brand whose emphasis is on long-term customer satisfaction. The company’s visibility campaign and brand recognition are built on the idea that, even in the midst of a stressful move, “Life is Beautiful” when customers move with Flatrate — a slogan so important to the company that it even appears on its trucks.

The Forbes Enterprise Award is not the only award Flatrate has achieved in the past 12 months. In June of 2006, the general public voted Flatrate (New York) for a prestigious Best of Citysearch (BOC) Award as “Best Mover 2006.” In addition, Citysearch reviewers and reporters also chose Flatrate as #1 in a separate editorial honor for the company.

Storage

storage1

There are a few main reasons for storage:

  • Providing more time and options for people to find and arrange their new apartment
  • If you are moving to a different country for a few years then you will probably need storage for the items you are leaving behind
  • Providing a safe place to store your items while you are not around to watch them

storage

What are STORAGE CELLS:

Storage cells are storage rooms which provide a safe and affordable space, that people who are moving will probably need to store their items before moving into their new appartement.

Sometimes, when people move to a different country or state, they will need storage space to store items that they will not take along, or are to big to be moved over long distances. These items, for example a table, or a bookshelf, are usually not moved over long distances b/c of their size, and are usually stored in storage rooms till the owners come back, or find another use for them.

Storage Story

I’m 23 i moved from my parents house to a small apartment. I looked for a moving company that will suit my needs, and so I found a good company in all aspects except for one, storage. Without mentioning any names, the company did their job, not the best service but they were OK.

moving3When time came to bring everything into the new apartment not everything fit and I needed to go and get storage from a different company. This meant that I had to pay more money to a different on top of what I already paid the first company. This situation caused me much aggravation and monetary loss. From my experience with moving companies, I suggest you check the companies reputation and the fields of moving which they deal with and make sure everything goes according to your plan, and things are ticking according to your watch. Make sure you get a moving company which is reliable, so you know your belongings are safe, and so everything would go well.   storage

Moving Scam

moving-746656.gifMy name is Abe, recently I needed to move from Florida to Oklahoma. I needed a moving company and quick. So I called up the first moving company I saw online. I wont mention any names, for obvious reasons. The movers came by and worked for about two hours, with a couple of  5 minute breaks in every hour. They moved my items to my new apartment, I thought everything went well but when I looked around I found out that much of my furniture was scratched, smashed and damaged majorly. After the move I spoke to a few friends who found out that this company was indeed a major moving company scam.

In my experience, I learned that people should always check the background of the company they want to use. Always get feedback about the company you choose. Good feedback means good service, and good service means happy customers.
