I have a friend that is planning on moving to Australia soon from the U.S. and he needs to know who the good, reliable and fair-priced movers are. He won’t have a lot of things to move, but he still needs some things shipped there. I don’t know which city he is moving too, but I could find out. He plans on moving in October (I think). Thanks! i got a rate of $00.49 per lb for 2268 lbs. for $1328.83. including taxes delivery and loading the truck. from my apartment to our house in oregon is this a good rate? i went through authorized movers, is there another company that offers a better quote or deal, also the move is from San Diego California to Portland Oregon if that makes a difference. My friends are moving cross country from Manhattan (NYC) to Los Angeles. Does anyone have first hand experience with a moving company? If you did not move from the 5 boroughs, please do not respond.

Also, my sister is moving across country for a year during her husband’s deployment. We are leaving most of our items in storage and anything I am taking will be taken in the car.

However, I would like to bring my elliptical machine if I can get it shipped. I am not sure who will do this, and I do not want to rent a truck and do it myself, I would like them to pick it up and move it for me.

Does anyone know of any moving or transportation companies that may do this? Or even if it can be done via mail?

Uhals are better but budget is more cheaper. Hey just look at the name uhaul you hail it so its up to u how good u are as-long as the truck doesn’t break down.

3. I hired a so called reputable moving co. which we thought we had an eye on at all times as we packed the boxes, were there w/ them throughout the load and unload and my husband drove his vehicle in front of the moving truck and I behind. If they stopped, we stopped. Still they stole our daughters….
4. Pack the items yourself and label them as to what room they go into instead of the contents so they don’t know what is valuable

I am moving locally from 1Bed to a 2 Bed.
Some companies are charging a flat rate($250-300) and some are charging hourly ($90/hr)+ travel time(appx 1hour or $90 to and fro).
Not sure which one to go for, please help.
Yes, I forgot to add both (Hourly and Flat ) comes with 2 movers and a truck.
Also, Why to go for flat rate with more than 2 men? If more than 2 they will finish the move quickly so shouldn’t hourly be preferred?

The distance from my old place to new one is only 4 miles of local streets.
Even the hourly movers are charging a flat 1 hour for travel time. reason being, they do not want me charge for delay due to traffic jams etc
