Sports Teams That Could Be Moving

иконописПравославни икониWhen long distance movers start loading up a major sports team it’s big news. Naturally, fans always really want the inside scoop on a move before it happens, so rumours about who is and is not moving spread like wildfire through social media services like Twitter, and through the blogosphere. We always like to have a finger on the pulse of the storage & moving world, so here are a few teams that could be packing up and moving to a new home soon:

Let’s start with ice hockey. It’s a real possibility that the New York Islanders might be moving all the way to Kansas City. KC’s Sprint Center is known to be looking around for a potential tenant and the lease on the Islander’s current home in Long Island is due to expire. Local residents recently rejected a proposal to upgrade the site and provide new facilities, so the Islanders may become homeless. Could they end up in Kansas City? We don’t know for sure but it seems like a logical move. (We don’t want the Islanders to move…but if they do…here’s a great moving company!)

Sometimes teams move across national boundaries, not just between states. It doesn’t happen often but the recent announcement about the Atlanta Thrashers moving up to Winnipeg wasn’t the first of this kind. However, as anyone who has moved an office or their home to another country knows, there are always complications along the way. The Thrasher relocation deal is worth $170 million, but that figure includes $60 million in fees to be paid to the league.
